Decorate Your Pumpkins – The Easiest Way Ever!

My kids love to carve pumpkins.  They love going to the pumpkin patch.  They love hunting for their pumpkins, and they love to carve them.  I, on the other hand, could do without the carving part.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the pumpkin patch and searching for the perfect pumpkin with my family.  But, when it comes to carving…  I’m just not a fan.  Because, let’s face it, I end up doing all the work.  They whine about the guts, so I end up doing it, just to get it done.  And, I really can’t trust a 6 and 8 year old with a knife.  Or, a 10 and 12 year old, for that matter.

So, a couple years ago, after carving all the other pumpkins, I was struck with inspiration!!  I didn’t want to stick my hand in any more pumpkins, or try to carve a half-way decent face, and I came up with the best (and easiest) idea ever!  I want to apologize though, because I only took one picture, and it’s not even really that good.  You’ll get the idea, though, and maybe you’ll be able to get out of carving this year…

Without further ado…

What do you think?  My favorite thing about this is that it was so simple.  I just grabbed some hardware from the garage, and a hammer (because everything is funner with a hammer), and made the best Jack-O-Lantern.  I like the mixture of the different types of screws, hooks, and nails, and if you don’t already have these laying around, you can get a nice set like this or this to decorate yours.  Plus, you can reuse this hardware every year.  Just pull them out when you’re ready to toss your pumpkin, and save for next year, or I’m sure you could find another use, as well.  Another bonus – your pumpkin won’t rot near as quickly as a carved one.  What’s not to love??

I hope you were inspired by this…  And, I would love to see your creations!
